AM : First can you present the band and its members ? How did Wolfchant begin ?

Wolfchant : Hello, we are Wolfchant from lower bavaria/germany. We play Epic Pagan
Metal. Our band exists since late 2003. We already released two demos
entitled "The Fangs Of The Southern Death" (early 06) and "The Herjan
Trilogy" (Late 04). Our debut album "Bloody Tales Of Disgraced Lands" (late
05) was released by CCP Records/SPV Distribution in Linz/Austria. Now we
have a new album unleashed since 06.04.07 called "A Pagan Storm".

The present Bandmembers are:
Lokhi-Vocals, Mouth Harp
Skaahl- Lead Guitars, Acoustic Guitars
Norgahd-Drums, Accordion, Flute
Derrmorh-Rhythm Guitars, Acoustic Guitars
Nattulv-Bass

We also organize the Pagan Nights Festival in Kneisting /lower bavaria
(www.pagan-nights.de) and the Walpurgis Metal Days Festival/ lower bavaria
(www.walpurgismetal.de)

AM : Are you satisfied of your debut album "Bloody Tales Of Disgraced Lands", how was it received by press and fans ?

Wolfchant : We are very satisfied when it comes to the press and the fans. We never thought that we would have such a background and support because we never played in "famous" bands before. We reached more than we ever thought to be possible with our first album so we are very happy with it and we still like to hear the songs. The only thing that was a little worse is the sound. During the time of recording "Bloody Tales Of Disgraced Lands" we didn't have the contract with CCP Records so we had to record it at home which meant that the sound isn't as professional as we wanted it to be.

AM : The new album is right in the same way as the debut, you seem to have found your sound easily ?

Wolfchant : Yeah, we think so too, but we think also that we made a step forward with the new album because we concentrated in what we could do best. We decided to ban the keyboards and just work with guitars and traditional instruments for the melodies. We made this decision because we didn't find a keyboarder who would have fit in the band. What came next was that we wanted to state a sign that epic pagan metal needs no keyboards to sound good what we think went very well. Also a new part of our music is that we use choirs at several songs which also sounds good in our mind.

AM : I describe your music as a mix of traditionnal heavy metal à la Iron Maiden and of paganic finnish metal as Ensiferm, Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Ajattara, etc, do you agree ?

Wolfchant : Yes, we do. We like the traditional metal sound and picked it up for our pagan music. The result is the typical style of Wolfchant.

AM : What is the concept behind Wolfchant, paganism, nature,. ?

Wolfchant : There are different reasons for us to be a part of Wolfchant. The lyrical themes are often nature and the selfdestructing modern consumption world but what comes above this all is the simple fact that we listen to metal since years. We just want to have fun with what we do and travel to different cities, meet interesting people and of course spend time at festivals. The fact that we can tell people what we think completes this perfect.

AM : What is your planning now, composition, touring, or holidays ?

Wolfchant : Everything a little bit, haha. We are gathering some ideas now for new songs but the main song writing will start around in the end of this year I think. We just finished the Walpurgis Metal Days which was very stressfull but worth every second of our time. We are planning to go on tour but the decision didn't fell yet. In the next time we'll play several shows and festivals. We also drive to festivals private or go on holidays ,hang out and relaxe a little bit in the summer.

AM : What are the latest albums that impressed you in the last months ?

Wolfchant : That's not very hard to think about because there wasn't much good releases in the last time. I was really surprised when I heared "Spirit" of Eluveitie the first time. I know, it is released now for a couple of months yet but i got it just a few weeks ago.

AM : Thanks for your time and for the great new album !

Wolfchant : Thank you also for your time, support and of course your praise!
